L.acidophilus and B.bifidum are viable, beneficial intestinal bacteria that naturally exist together in the gastrointestinal tract. These organisms have been shown to colonise the human intestinal tract and help maintain the health of the digestive system. The LAB4 specially selected strains used by Biocare were compared with other probiotic strains for their ability to survive passage through the stomach. With over 90% survival in the full stomach environment and over 50% survival in the harshest environment of the empty stomach, the Biocare organisms proved particularly robust and well adapted to the human stomach environment. This complex consists of two proprietary strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus and two proprietary strains of Bifidobacteria bifidum. LAB4 strains are acid-stable. LAB4 has been tested extensively and has proven efficacy.
